Athlete Spotlight: Clayton Wright
I got the chance to speak with senior athlete, Clayton Wright, about his experience playing at Open Door.
What is your favorite sport?
“Football”
How long have you been playing basketball?
“Yes (2nd grade)”
What position do you play?
“Forward/center”
What athlete do you look up to the most?
“Vlasi Pappas (Avon High athlete)”
How do you implement your faith into athletics?
Everything I do in athletics is for God. It’s a form of worship. I use the abilities that God gave me as best as I can in a way that is pleasing to Him, giving Him the glory for every victory and defeat.
What’s your favorite part about playing varsity basketball?
“Being with my best friends everyday.”
What’s it like being coached by your dad in basketball?
“Hard! He pushes me so much and tries to make me the best player I can be. It’s also a ton of fun because I know him better than the other players, and it’s awesome to be able know him on and off the court.”
What about playing with your brother?
“It’s my favorite year of basketball by far because I get to play with carter. I’ve been waiting for this year since 7th grade when we were wrecking kids at the pool parking lot across the street from our house. I’m so proud of him and it makes me smile every time we are on the court together. “
