Athlete Spotlight: Gabe Kessler
By: Zach Strouse
I had the opportunity to sit down with Senior Guard Gabe Kessler to talk about his basketball career
- How long have you been playing Basketball?
I have been playing basketball for two years.
- Is Basketball your favorite sport?
No, actually I have been trapshooting for a lot longer so I enjoy that a little more.
- Who is your favorite basketball player?
I really like Kevin Love, I think he’s good at a lot of different aspects of the game and I really respect that.
- How is the team doing this year?
We’re doing pretty good, recently we’ve really started coming together and growing closer as a team, and that’s showing in our games.
- What is your responsibility as a Senior on the team?
As a senior on the team it’s my responsibility to set a good example for the team. It’s important to know your role on the team and I feel I have established that as a positive example to help lift the players who need it and keep the energy up.
- What is your best moment of the season so far?
My best moment of the season is probably my time in the game on Senior Night. I got some good playing time and I feel like I really did what I needed to do while I was in to help the team.
- What is your goals for the rest of the season?
I just want to continue to play my best when i’m in and overall be a good example to the rest of the guys.
- How is it playing with such a young team?
I really don’t notice it that much honestly. Whereas the team is young they are all extremely talented and very experienced in the game so age really doesn’t weigh on my mind.
- Have you formed a bond with your teammates?
I do think i’ve formed a bond with my teammates. As the seasons progressed I have definitely grown a lot closer to some guys that I probably would not be around much otherwise. We really do have a great team talent and personality wise.
- How has God helped while playing basketball?
God has gifted me the talents that I have and especially by surrounding me with great people. I have been able to use these talents in game and the people he’s put in my life to help me grow outside of the game as well.
Thank you Mr. Kessler and have a good rest of your season.
