Open Door JV/V Boys Basketball VS Black River JV/V: 11/28/17
HIGH HOPES AND BIG DREAMS BY: ALEX LLOYD
The Patriots went in to this season with high hopes and dreams as the Varsity boys try to make a better record after a 10-12 season last year. The JV squad wants to redeem themselves after winning only 4 games last year. Open Door hasn’t made it to the Final Four of the State Tournament since 2002. The Coaching Staff and players are very excited about this season because of all the talent they have coming after Carter Wright, Jared Bublenic, and Trey Brooks. The boys will be looking to ride the coattails of Carter, Jared, and Trey as they try to make history this year.
The action kicked off with the JV boys squaring off against Black River. In a hard fought game, most of the action happened in the 4th quarter. The boys had lost a key player due to an ankle injury late in the 3rd, Mark Yakobchuk. He was questionable to return, but he did return in the 4th quarter to fuel the offense to a 3-point lead. The guys struggled turning fast-breaks into points. The JV guys ended up losing by 4 points, 43-39.
The Varsity team brought their A+ Game last night. They showed hustle, determination, and no quit. The guys forced overtime against a massive Black River Varsity team. The Varsity team ended up winning in Overtime, 60-51.
The JV guys move to 0-1, and the Varsity guys move to 1-0. The Guys have a game THIS FRIDAY DECEMBER 1st.
