Top 5 Tips to Survive Social Distancing
- Do not cut yourself off from your family. Even though you may think that it is better to not be in contact with anyone, you should still talk to your parents or siblings, even if it is across the room. Being alone is not what humans were created to be. Even communicating through social media is better than not talking to anyone. Being home all day is only temporary, so make the most of this time to talk to your family and enjoy each other’s company.
- Keep good hygiene. Do not let being home all day deter you from keeping clean. Just because you are not doing anything all day does not mean you do not have to shower. Keeping clean also means that you help out around the house and do things you are asked to do. You are now living in your house 24/7, so help keep it clean.
- Try to exercise on a daily basis. Even though you may not be lifting weights with you sports team or running with your friends, it is important that your body is doing something to burn energy and stay in shape.
- Do projects around the house. Even though there may be big things around the house to do, try to do small simple projects around the house that have needed to get done. Now is a perfect time to do things that require your full concentration.
- Read a book or find a hobby. If you are not wanting to do anything but sit on a couch all day, at least find a book to read or find a hobby that helps you relax. All the stress from trying to connect to the Wi-Fi and connecting to Skype or Zoom is just waiting to be released. If you have free time on your hands, trying using those hands and do something creative. Nothing is more satisfying than admiring your own creation.
