Student Spotlight: Ellison Dueck
Open Door Junior Ellison Dueck has been in love with photography/cinematography all his life. ODCS Press had the opportunity to ask Ellison some questions about his passion and here is what he had to share.
1: Explain this hobby…
“Photography and videography isn’t about just taking photos and videos but its about noticing the little things, the little details and more about the art of noticing. I love it because you can capture a moment in time and freeze it and turn it into art and be able to look back on it/ inspire others with the art you create.
2: When did you start learning about this hobby?
When I got back from Africa I realized how cool it was where I lived and I wished I had captured its beauty. So I decided to do the same with wherever I go, and that’s kind of what sparked the fire inside of me to have this passion for photography/videography/cinematography.
3: What has been your favorite project you’ve worked on?
I went back to Africa in the Summer of 2022 and was able to make a short video sort of capturing what my home was like, and that was really fun for me to be able to go back grown up and see all my friends and be able to capture West Africa’s beauty. (see video below)
4: What motivates you work harder at this hobby?
I want to make this hobby into a career someday. That’s what motivates me to keep pursuing this hobby and to get better at it and really dial in and improve my craft.
5: What are your goals for this hobby?
Like I said above, I want to make this into a full time career one day so I’m striving to get to that point.”
