Student Spotlight: Jasmine Brooks
By Caleb Brooks
Modern Media took the time to sit down with Open Door Christian Schools student Jasmine Brooks and ask her a few questions about her senior year.
“Do you like online or in person school better”
“In person, online didn’t feel as rewarding because I wasn’t with my friends and it was just me doing work”.
“Has anyone else from your family graduated from Open Door”
“Yes, my older brother Trey graduated from Open Door in 2019”.
“What were your expectations going into 2020/2021 as a senior with covid”
“I did come in with low expectations because I knew some of the stuff i’ve been looking forward to for awhile like prom, senior night, and graduation wouldn’t be the same. Everything’s pretty much as expected, but i’m trying to make the best of it”.
“What was one exciting thing about your senior year”
“I got to be homecoming queen. That was unexpected and a great honor”!
“Do you plan on attending college? If so, what college”
“Yes I do. I’m not sure what college”.
“What do you plan to study in college”
“Film, and Psychology”.
“What will you miss most about high school”
“Being a part of a sports team. I don’t plan to play sports in college”.
“What sports did you play in high school”
“I played volleyball, basketball, and softball”.
“What sport was your favorite in high school”
“Volleyball”.
“If you could go to any college in the world, which college would it be”
“The University of Oxford because of british accents”.
“What is the one thing you will miss about Open Door the most”
“The musical, because I don’t know if i’ll be able to do one in college. And the people i’ve done theatre with, i’m pretty close with, so i’ll miss doing theatre with them”.
“How easy has it been adapting to the new school year”
“It’s been relatively easy, just a bunch of simple rules, that’s all”.
