Kyle Cornet interviewed Celeste Strinka to get her take on online schooling.

What grade are you in?

“I’m a junior”

Why are you online?

“I’m online in order to prevent the spread of a novel virus that we are just now learning how to treat. All though, the students may not experience severe consequences because of this illness, they can still be carriers and infect a more vulnerable population such as grandparents or other family members that are at a higher risk of not surviving the virus. I’m at a high risk of not surviving if I get this virus because I have chronic pulmonary issues.”

Do you like being online?

“I have my struggles and there will obviously always be some issues with communication, but I do like not having to wake up at 5 in the morning.”

How do you keep in touch with friends?

“I typically use snapchat because i find that snapchat is fun to use and with facetime, i can actually speak out loud and hold a real conversation with them.”

What is a good thing about being online?

“One good thing about being online is that all of my assignments are online and I don’t have to worry about paperwork and big projects.”

What is a bad thing about being online?

“There’s always a miscommunication with something whether that be with assignments, schedules changes, what we should expect in the class for that week, etc. etc. I’m guessing it’s hard for teachers to remember us online kids; sometimes I have to ask for my teachers to post notes or assignments, turn in slots or to just clarify things.”
