XC Runs @ Stars and Stripes Meet

0

On Saturday September 9th, the Open Door Boys Cross Country took their talents to the Stars and Stripes Cross Country Invitational at Seneca East High School. All the boys ran hard and made a statement that day.

The Stars and Stripes meet was something very new to the Patriot runners as this was the first time Open Door had been invited to the meet. The race was different from the typical meet.  The race was held at night and started with FIREWORK instead of a starter’s pistol.  The theme of the meet was ‘America’ to remember the tragedy of 9/11. After the race there were fireworks for all the enjoy. The Open Door Cross country team had a blast running in the dark and are looking forward to the rest of the season.  All of the boys were very excited to run in this race, including Coach Daniel as he told the boys “under the lights, and I can hardly wait!” Going into the race the boys had many individual and team goals. The individual goals were to ‘PR’ which means personal record. The team goals were to come in top 5 and beat Mapleton and Dalton High Schools. Unfortunately, Open Door didn’t beat Mapleton but we did defeat Dalton.

Meet Results:

Our boys team won 5th place out of 31 teams!

Nolan Raack and Anthony Januzzi medaled.

All of the boys got a new PR!
