We were honored to sit down with captain of the varsity cheer squad, Kendra Gillberg. We sat down and asked her some questions about this years 2015-2016 basketball season.

How long have you been cheering?

6 years and 10 seasons.

Is it sad being your last year of cheer?

“It is sad because I don’t know if I’ll cheer ever again, but I’ve made so many fun memories I can’t help to enjoy it”.

What is your favorite memory?

“There are so many different memories depending on who I’m with and who I remember.  I loved cheering at the Q we’d always display our really cool dance and it was something unique we could do”.

How does having a relationship with God help with your cheering?

“ I think it helps me personally because there is always going to be people bringing you down, there’s always going to be situations, like the refs aren’t calling things right or the cheerleaders accuse you of trashing their bathroom, but you always have to make sure even if you don’t respond directly to them you still keep your own attitude, your own said guidelines and rules and things that you do”.

Do you plan on doing cheer in college?

“I’m still thinking about it”.

Does cheer make your senior year of highschool better?

“ I think it creates this sense of respect on your head, you’re following your own set of guidelines and a distinct set of rules that tell you what you need to do”.
