Who is McKenzie Carrell? A sit down talk with one of ODCS Press’ own.
By Cameron D. Parker
I sat down with the one and only McKenzie Carrell, a member of our ODCS Press team, to find out more about her…here’s how it went.
Where were you born?
— “I was born in Ohio and I’ve lived here my entire life.”
Well, what do you like about Ohio?
— “I would say I like the weather cycle, like Summer isn’t too arduous, but still a nice refresher from everything winter entails. It’s just all around nice to have all four seasons.”
Do you have a favorite class at this school, and why is it your favorite?
— “It would either be, this year, I’m taking anatomy, which I just find so fascinating, all the systems of the human body, or language arts, which is a long time favorite of mine.”
Can you go into detail on why language arts a long time favorite of yours?
— “I have always been a book nerd, pretty much any of my friends will tell you when I’m not talking, I’m reading. And I don’t know, something about language arts just, it’s almost like math but fun. The English language, just figuring out how a sentence should be built, other ways you can do it, to make it more fun, it’s nice.”
What’s your favorite word in the English language, since you mentioned you liked language arts?
— “Either ‘tabernacle’ or ‘globule.’”
What’s your favorite movie, and why is it your favorite?
— “My favorite movie is Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive, which is a spinoff movie of Final Fantasy XV, talks about the events that happened during the fall of insomnia. And it’s my favorite because I’m a huge nerd and I love that game.”
I’ve heard you attend Ren-Faires, what do you enjoy about them?
— “I would just say just knowing that everyone around me is as nerdy as I am, like if I wanted to stop and have a conversation about cosplay or D&D, pretty much every person there would be able to have that conversation.”
If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?
— “I would say it wouldn’t be an animal, I would be a bacterium I think, just because, like, bacteria are so cool. Like waking up every morning and your only concern is, hmm, do I want to split in half today? And then deciding yes or no and then that’s all you do. It sounds incredible.”
What do you think that says about you as a person?
— “I think it says I’m lazy.”
Would you become Amish?
— “You know, I think I would.”
Could you expand on that?
— “Yeah, sure, I mean, I enjoy YouTube as much as the next person, Twitch, whatever. I don’t know if I would be Amish long term, especially considering how their education system works, but, like I would maybe try it out for a month just to, you know, see if I like it.”
Part time Amish?
— “Yeah, right.”
And for my final question, what would it take for you to beat a grizzly bear in a fight?
— “Ooh. I would have to say it would take the grizzly bear being tranquilized.”
