Ni-Hao! Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be born in China then be adopted and brought to the United States? For Moshi Harp, he never had to wonder…he lived it!  Being one of the most well known underclassmen, he said that people asking him how and why he moved here is a question that he surprisingly does not get that often. Moshi shared that “coming to America has been very enjoyable because of the freedoms we have” and him “not being that big of a fan of socialism.” As a true man of the people, one of his favorite things to do is to experience the sporting events and the culture that surrounds these truly American experiences. He mentioned one of his favorite events is the Seneca Stars and Stripes Night Race for Cross-Country, which is a race like no other.

Students of Open Door Christian School hold their walk with Christ near their heart, Moshi holds it even closer that that, he has it written on his heart. Joshua 1:9 has left a meaningful impact on his life, not only inspiring him, but blessing him by being obedient. Having had trouble with one of his eyes and not knowing if he could ever drive (…legally), he and his family were ‘strong and courageous’ as the LORD commanded them to be. The next time his family went to check his eye out, the doctors discovered his condition had gotten better. So much so, that he will be able to drive in the future! This memory is something that Moshi has never forgotten, as he has seen the goodness of God with his own eye.

As a sophomore, Moshi has had two years to see changes and has two years left to see more change. Playing a major role in multiple sects of the fine arts departments, he sometimes thinks what it could be if it could grow to the same heights as the academic and athletics departments. He has seen the academic and sports departments only “grow and grow,” but for fine arts Moshi said, “we went from filling the LCCC theater to performing in the RNC with some seats open.” He dreams of bringing back the glory days of Newsies and other hits we had in the past. As well as the musical, he wishes to see the band grow to be even bigger and better than it is now. While these thoughts may be what if’s right now, he very well could be the advocate for change within these departments.

Moshi Harp. The man, the myth, the legend. He lives a very busy, yet fulfilling life full of laughter and cheerfulness. Always working on his craft, trying to better himself everyday for the lifting up of God and those around him. Every morning he comes up with the most absurd questions to ask his peers, sometimes too busy laughing at the question before he can get it out. Moshi’s infectious laugh forces his peers to join him in his joy for life. Being a vital member of the class of 2030, we can only wait to see how high he will go.
