Jonah Eck Athlete Spotlight

We had the opportunity to sit down with Jonah Eck, a Senior on our bowling team

  1. How long have you been a bowler? Besides occasional bowling with friends and family, I have never bowled before this season.
  1. What are practices/matches like? Practices are very fun and casual that I enjoy with my friends, matches are a little stressful especially the first match we had as I had no idea what I was doing, but matches are fun and they can get exciting with teammates and parents cheering and everything.
  2. How is the team coming together? We are a very new team with a lot of first time bowlers (like me) but we have all been progressing a lot since the start of the season and starting to shape up to be a very good team.
  3. Where are the bowling matches held? They are held at various different Bowling Lanes around the county like Brunswick and Rebmans.
  4. What size bowling ball do you use? I think it’s a 15 pound ball, it’s doesn’t say on the ball but it’s heavier than 12 pounds.
  5. How does it feel to be a Senior bowler? It feels great as I am looked up to by my teammates but I wish I would have bowled more throughout my high school career
  6. What are the fundamentals to bowling? Don’t use plastic lane balls, get a real ball and get a nice curve on the ball to hit that pocket just right.
  7. Do you know what the PBA is? Absolutely no idea
  8. Do you think you will end up on the PBA circuit? Not sure what it is so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  9. What has been your best bowling score so far this year? My high game this season so far is a 215
  10. How many strikes have you bowled this year? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have no idea but I have bowled quite a few I think
  11. How does God help you while bowling? He gives me the strength to bowl and He has surrounded me with friends and coaches who help me and encourage me as I bowl.
