Athlete Spotlight: Aleks Boardwine

Drew Johnson, Mitchell Wiley, and Caleb Brooks sat down with freshman bowler Aleks Boardwine to talk about his first year of high school bowling.

 

When did you start bowling?

“I first started bowling when I was about 5 years old. I went to a friend’s birthday party and fell in love with it.”

 

What do you enjoy most about high school bowling so far?

“I love the people the most, they have been really fun to hang around with during practice and they’re really nice.”

 

What is your highest game this season?

 “I bowled  a 208 in a match this year, but practicing by myself I shot a 276, that was super cool and an awesome experience.”

 

Who is the hardest player you’ve bowled?

“The hardest person I have ever played against has to be my dad. He’s been bowling his entire life and has taught me well.”

 

What is your favorite bowling alley?

“I love Pence Lanes, it’s where I started and fell in love with the sport.”

 

Do you have a nickname for your bowling ball?

“No, I don’t have a confirmed nickname for it yet. Me and my friends have brainstormed name ideas in the past though.”

 

What’s your favorite moment bowling so far?

“My favorite memory of bowling has to be shooting my 276. It was just such a cool experience and I was really proud of it.”
