Dan Olien Xc meet wrap up

On Saturday October 7, Open Door boys cross country gave it all they had at the Dan Olien XC invite finishing an impressive 2nd place out of 16 teams with first place Mapleton at 60 points and second place Open Door with 64.

With this meet being the last regular season race of the season the boys wanted to finish strong. All the boys were excited for this race and surprisingly excited to run in the 40 degree weather. Coach Denver Daniel told the team “now this has to make you excited to race, this is what cross country is all about, this is real cross country weather”. The team’s goal coming into this race was to come out on top winning the meet even though the team fell short of that goal they weren’t mad at the results. Mapleton is a team Open Door has been competing with all year and they are a great team. The Mapleton school community recently experienced a tragedy with a loss of student Bre McKean. Bre McKean collapsed on the football field while being recognized for HomeComing court. She was rushed to the hospital and not long after, passed away. As a school community, our prayers go out to her family and the Mapleton community. Going into the final steps of the cross country season the Patriots will honor the Mapleton school community by wearing a Maple Leaf pin during their races. 

Results of the meet: Our boys team came 2nd overall! The boys had 3 medalists as well, Anthony Januzzi coming in 5th place, Trevor Taylor coming in 8th place, and Nolan Raack coming in at 11th. We had 4 new personal best times on the team! Senior Jack Mungle, Senior Joey Yarham, Junior Spencer Beckett, and Senior Jack Flinner.
