Kevin Cajamarca sat down to get a haircut with Senior Nate Marrero and learn about his passion for cutting hair.

ODCS Senior Nathan Marrero has been cutting hair for an entire year and had the chance to cut Junior Kevin Cajamarca to show off his cutting skills to prove the doubters wrong. Nate started cutting hair his Junior year and has collaborated with a professional barber named Dreclipperhands  throughout his barber career. He has been wanting to cut several students hair, but they all have expressed doubt about his barbering experience. Kevin decided to give Nate a chance to show his skill set and maybe gain some more customers. Nate Marrero told Kevin “I’m confident in what I do and I do this because it is how I connect with people and show the love and glory that God has blessed me with.” Nate met up with Kevin and sat him down and got straight to cutting. Kevin looked nervous as he had never been, it was his first time getting a haircut by a high school student. As Nate started cutting, his clippers kept snagging on Kevin’s hair and he quickly went to fix them. He came back with an eager excitement and said “ Don’t worry, I won’t mess your hair up, I’ve done this many times before.” Nate gave words of encouragement to Kevin and gave Kevin confidence as well, which was great service to Kevin. Nate kept cutting and giving Kevin a line up.  Check out the before and after pictures, they look amazing! Nate Marrero gave Kevin a haircut and with the help of God he was able to finish in a whopping 45 minutes (new record). Nate told Kevin “I’m all about making the client feel as good as possible. Their confidence gives me confidence.” After this cut, Nate has shown he has what it takes to be in the barber industry and will go down as the only, and the best,  barber at Open Door Christian School. If it is Kevin approved then Nate has nothing else to prove.
