Mrs. Stalnaker is a high school English teacher here at Open Door Christian Schools. She is loved by teachers, staff, and parents.  In her six years at Open Door, she has taught many students to love reading and writing. In her spare time, Mrs. Stalnaker loves to watch college football, baseball, and of course she loves to read!

From the time she was a little girl she knew that she wanted to be a teacher. “I feel like it started when I was a little kid, because I used to line up my stuffed animals and do lessons with them.” Mrs. Stalnaker has a passion for reading and she loves reading all kinds of books. She loves to share her passion with whoever she can. “I don’t remember a time when I didn’t love reading,” Mrs. Stalnaker shares, “my parents had read to me since I was a kid and I have read to my kids since they were little, little babies.”

Mrs. Stalnaker helps students change their negative feelings around reading and she truly helps show people that reading and writing can be beneficial in everyday life. By showing people that reading isn’t just about words on a page, Mrs. Stalnaker sparks her students’ creative juices and allows them to grow their imaginations. Once you start reading, you will never want to stop. “She really helped me discover my passion for reading,” ODCS student Avalise Rodriguez-Moon shared.  Mrs. Stalnaker can take someone who hates reading and help them learn to love it.
